Signs of Spring!

Our class has been on TWO nature walks in the last few weeks.  We can't wait to tell you about all of the signs of spring we have seen!

Last Tuesday, April 30 we took a walk up the hill to our park.  We saw all sorts of signs of spring! 

We are so inspired by frogs, ducks, birds, rainbows, worms and snails! After our lentil experiment we are still eager to learn more about plants, nature and living things!   

 E.W.  "Lady bugs need fresh air in the spring."
S.Z.  "Lady bugs aren't out in the winter because it's too windy and cold." 
J.L. (JK) "We wear sunglasses in the spring."
S.C.  "I see green grass because in the winter or fall grass is yellow or there is snow."
C.W.  "A lady bug is a living thing." 
E.R. (SK)  I see green grass.  Lady bugs come out when it is warm."

L.U.   "We aren't wearing any coats outside!"

A.K.  "I see a lady bug!"

Z.L.  "The living things fly around in spring." 
A.L. (male)  "Buds will make flowers, fruit, or leaves."
E.Z.  "I see buds on a tree.  They grow in the spring."








J.Lnd "I see a flower.  I think it grows and its a sign of spring."
S.S.  "I see a flower.  I think the grass is green because it's hotter outside."
E.W.  "Flowers grow.  Sun shines on the flowers to grow."
G.F.F.  "The stem is getting taller."
A.G.  "Flowers grow bigger and bigger."

M.S.  "I see rain boots.  CLouds help trees grow with rain."

A.G.  "We wear caps in the spring."

N.W.  "Rain boots are a sign of spring because it rains."

Z.L. "I see a blue sky."
D.M.  "Rain makes the grass green."
M.O.  "I see short sleeves!  I see a soccer net because it's warm out."
L.S.  "Clouds help flowers."

C.W.  "I see a sun.  The sun is warm."
L.U.  "The coulds make rain and helps the flowers to grow in the spring."

These are some pictures of our Nature Walk on Thursday, May 9.  We ventured to the pond down the street from the school.  Not only did we see signs of spring, we also heard them!

M.O.  "I think I hear a frog." 

S.S.  "I hear birds."

We heard a lawn mower in while we were walking, which is definitely a sign of spring!  Our grass is growing long. 

D.V.  "I hear a machine."

J.Lnds "Maybe the machine is cutting grass." 

 D.V.  "I see the trees are growing leaves."

 D.M.  "The pond looks dirty."

S.C.  "The buds look like little leaves now." 
A.G.  "First they were small and now they are big."

S.Z.  "Worms are a sign of spring."

N.W.  "The ducks were going to the other side of the pond."

S.Z.  "I think the bird will find the worm and eat it ."
